Drug-Free Day Programme

The Drug-Free Day Programme offers a six-month rehabilitation service, for up to 12 people at any one time.

This service is designed to help recovering addicts develop the skills they need to live a drug-free, independent life.Maybe you’ve stopped using drugs or alcohol, but the struggle doesn’t stop there. You want to get back to normal life and to be independent and active, but how do you remain drug or alcohol free?

Some people manage on their own but most need support and the right environment to build their self-confidence, strength and skills. The Drug-Free Day Programme provides a supportive setting in our city centre location on Lord Edward Street in Dublin.

Aim

The overall aim of the programme is to provide a safe environment in which participants can develop the skills which will enable them to remain drug-free and maintain an independent way of living.

Duration

The programme begins with a two-week orientation phase.

This is followed by four and a half months of group work and one-to-one key work based on individualised care plans.Group-work sessions cover health promotion, relapse prevention, social skills, life spheres, self and peer evaluation groups, weekend planning and review groups, yoga, and a group social activity on one afternoon a week. In parallel with the group programme, clients work with a dedicated key worker with whom they assess their individual needs, identify an action-oriented care plan (which is reviewed weekly), and have additional one-to-one sessions.

Community Approach

Clients work closely with one another at all times, learning from each other’s experiences, supporting one another and taking a ‘community approach’ to responsibility.During the sixth and final month clients do not attend the programme full-time, but start instead to establish and attend their identified work and/or training options. On completion of the programme, clients can choose to be referred to the Coolmine Integration and Aftercare Service.
